| Brian Boru was an Irish warlord who fought a guerilla campaign against the invading Vikings in the 11th century. At the age of 26 he stormed into the Viking town of Limerick and he became a living legend. He later sacked Dublin and became ruler of all Ireland. After uniting the tribes of Ireland he sent raiding parties to England to levy tribute. Brian was killed in battle fighting the Vikings and thils marked a turning point for Irish history. The unity of the Irish tribes was destroyed but the Vikings never again tried to rule over the Irish People. | |
